NRA Defensive Pistol Class
Cost: $165 plus a $35 range fee – $50 deposit and you will be invoiced for $115 once we meet the 3 student minimum
This is an excellent class for LTC licensees to take before taking our Advanced Pistol Class. You learn the ethical and moral considerations of using a gun for self-defense, safe handling of a defensive pistol, concealment principles, drawing from different types of concealment, mental preparation, how to avoid life threatening encounters, defensive shooting principles, emergency reloading and clearing of malfunctions, use of cover and concealment, movement during engagement, and balancing speed and accuracy. If you are going to carry a concealed pistol, then you need to train to this minimum level of skill!

Taught at Thunder Gun Range
This class is a natural progression of training after passing the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Class or equivalent pistol training. You will need a 9mm semi-automatic or .38 Special revolver caliber pistol, an outside the waistband holster, a belt mounted magazine holster, ear protection, eye protection, 150 rounds of ammunition, pack a lite lunch, and bring plenty of sports drinks or water to stay hydrated. Knee pads are recommended if you have bad knees.
Registration details
You should register at least 14 days in advance of class to allow time for NRA to ship your training materials to us. If less than three people pre-register the class will be cancelled and full deposits refunded. Last minute registrations taken if four people have pre-registered and we have any extra NRA required training materials.
You must be 21 or older to take this class unless you are active military or a parent or guardian is taking the class with you.
Pre-payment of a $50 deposit with your registration is required to reserve a slot for a class. If you cancel attending more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time of a class you’ve registered for there will be a $50 cancellation fee deducted from your refund to cover our advance administrative costs. Cancellations within 48 hours of a class are subject to a $75 cancellation fee and no shows do not qualify for any refund.
