NRA Range Safety Officer Certification Class
This class teaches the knowledge, skills, and proper attitude to organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities on a shooting range.
Students learn the role of a Range Safety Officer and the purpose of Range Standard Operating Procedures. They learn how to inspect ranges for safety, the four types of shooting range rules and how each applies to the handling and use of guns. They learn the NRA Rules of Gun Safety, the rules of using and storing a gun, and how to conduct a Range Safety Briefing. Emergency range procedures are included material, as well as students are taught how to clear stoppages and malfunctions for most guns commonly brought to a public shooting range. With attending the entire class and scoring 90 or better on the written examination students are certified as NRA Range Safety Officers. This certification meets the requirements of the Boy Scouts of American to work with Boy Scouts shooting activities.
You must register at least 14 days in advance of class to allow time to order and receive required NRA training materials. If less than four people pre-register the class will be cancelled and deposits refunded. Last minute registrations taken if four people have pre-registered and instructor has any extra NRA training packets on hand.
You must be 21 or older to be certified as a NRA Range Safety Officer.
Payment with your registration is required to reserve a slot for a class. If you cancel attending more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time of a class you’ve registered for there will be a $50 cancellation fee deducted from your refund to cover our advance administrative costs. Cancellations within 48 hours of a class starting time are subject to a $75 cancellation fee. If you do not cancel or show up for class your pre-payment is forfeited.
